COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science degree at Lincoln provides a detailed and practical understanding of human health, disease, and medical science through a structured three-year program. In the first year, students study core subjects including Health and Disease, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Introduction to Life Sciences, Medical Biochemistry, and Research Methods for the Life Sciences, laying a strong foundation in both theory and laboratory practice. In the second year, the curriculum advances to Clinical Biochemistry and Diagnostics, Fundamentals of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Human Ageing and Disease, Immunology, Medical Microbiology, Molecular Biology, and Data Skills for the Life Sciences, while offering an optional Study Abroad module to broaden academic and cultural perspectives. The third year focuses on contemporary and applied topics such as 21st Century Medicine, Blood Sciences, Cancer Epidemiology and Pathology, One Health, and the Life Sciences Research Project, allowing students to conduct independent research and consolidate their practical and analytical skills. Optional modules, including Forensic Field Courses, Genetics and Bioethics, Introduction to Forensic Anthropology, Overseas Field Course, and Veterinary Parasitology, provide further specialization and career-focused learning. The program combines rigorous scientific study with hands-on laboratory experience, preparing graduates for professional roles in biomedical science, healthcare, research, or further postgraduate study.
