COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Technical Theatre and Stage Management degree at Lincoln provides a comprehensive pathway for students to develop both practical and theoretical expertise in the live arts and entertainment industry. In the first year, students build foundational skills through modules in stage management, stagecraft, and stage design, alongside optional courses such as screen and solo performance, technical theatre technology, and creative projects. Year two advances students’ knowledge with core modules in scenography, scenic construction, and stage and production management, while offering opportunities to explore contemporary production practices, creative audio technologies, digital performance, and arts-related electives. Students can also undertake industry placements or study abroad experiences to gain real-world experience and professional insight. In the final year, the program emphasizes independent creative and professional practice through projects such as the professional portfolio, investigating creative practice, and mastering technical standards for performance venues. Optional modules, including artist residencies, production design, scriptwriting, podcasting, dance management, and cultural industries, allow students to tailor their learning to specific career goals. Throughout the course, students gain hands-on experience in professional theatre settings, supported by access to Lincoln Arts Centre’s multi-functional performance spaces, which fosters practical skills, teamwork, and creative problem-solving. Graduates leave with the knowledge, technical proficiency, and industry awareness to succeed as adaptable and highly skilled technical theatre and stage management professionals.
