COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Sound and Music Production degree at Lincoln provides a comprehensive foundation in audio production, combining creative practice with industry-focused skills. In the first year, students develop essential abilities in electronic music production, multitrack recording, sound principles, radio broadcasting, sound for visual media, and understanding the creative industries, while exploring key concepts in sound. The second year builds on these foundations, introducing auditory culture, musical context, research methods, and sound branding, with optional modules in audio post-production, location sound, music mixing and mastering, and music production, alongside the opportunity to undertake an industry placement year through the Lincoln School of Creative Arts. In the final year, students focus on advanced practical projects, completing two major audio projects and an independent study, while also examining marketing, distribution, and industry case studies. The curriculum emphasizes both technical proficiency and creative innovation, giving students hands-on experience with professional software and equipment while fostering an understanding of the wider sound and music industries. Through this blend of academic learning, practical application, and industry engagement, graduates are equipped to pursue careers in audio production, postproduction for film and TV, music, radio, and other creative industries, with skills applicable to freelance and professional roles worldwide.
