COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Musical Theatre degree at the University of Lincoln offers an immersive and practical education that develops students as versatile performers, creators, and practitioners within the field of musical theatre. In the first year, students build foundational skills through core modules including ‘And Scene’: A Practical Introduction to Musical Theatre, Exploring 1: The Creative Arts, International Musical Theatre, Personal Development 1, and Staging a Musical 1: Song and Dance, with optional modules allowing further exploration in solo performance, screen performance, technical theatre, and physical performance. The second year deepens practical, creative, and professional expertise with core modules such as Creating a Musical and Exploring 2: Place and Space, alongside Personal Development 2a and 2b, while optional modules cover Acting the Song, Contemporary Performance Technologies, Creative Audio Technologies, Stage Combat, teaching practices, and industry placements, providing hands-on experience and opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration. In the final year, students focus on advanced creative practice, performance, and career preparation through core modules including Exploring 3: Investigating Creative Practice, Final Production, Forming a Company, and Industry Preparation, supported by optional modules in Arts and Cultural Industries, Dance Management and Production, Podcasting, Production Design, and Scriptwriting. Across all three years, the program emphasizes performance, creativity, collaboration, and professional readiness, equipping graduates to pursue careers in performance, production, arts management, and related creative industries.
