COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) English and Creative Writing at Lincoln offers a balanced three-year joint honours program blending literary scholarship with practical authorship. Year 1 establishes core skills through writing formats, narrative, poetry, portfolio development, and historical surveys from medieval to contemporary texts. Year 2 advances to literature of late capitalism, global storytelling, and critical theory, with options in American, medieval, Renaissance, or genre writing, craft-focused modules in non-fiction, fiction, poetry, or scriptwriting, plus placement or study abroad opportunities. In Year 3, students pursue specialised literary studies in Gothic, Shakespeare, childhood, or women’s writing alongside creative choices including a final major project, innovative poetry, or genre fiction in historical, contemporary, science fiction, or young adult forms. The curriculum fosters analytical depth, technical mastery, and professional versatility through workshops and visiting authors. Graduates emerge with critical insight and a polished portfolio, ready for publishing, media, education, or creative careers.
