COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Criminology and Sociology program at Lincoln fuses criminological theory with sociological perspectives across a three-year structure to analyse crime, deviance, and social order. Year 1 introduces research methods through a local case study, professional criminological identity, media influences, the justice system, analytical skills, and sociological imagination, with optional equity or conceptual modules. Year 2 deepens canonical sociological readings alongside applied criminology, advanced research, and professional practice, enriched by options in sex work, youth justice, organised crime, human rights, or a placement year. Year 3 centres on contemporary theories, harm dynamics, penology, and an independent study, supplemented by specialised choices including terrorism, green criminology, gender violence, re-integration, migration, or multiculturalism. Collaborative agency partnerships provide guest lectures and projects, bridging theory with practice. Graduates gain critical tools to evaluate policies, structures, and inequalities, preparing for impactful roles in justice, policy, research, and community services.
