COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Cancer Molecular Biology and Therapeutics combines theoretical knowledge with practical laboratory experience to provide a comprehensive understanding of cancer biology and its treatment. The taught modules cover core aspects of molecular and cell biology, experimental design, and the development of therapeutic strategies, giving students expertise in anti-cancer target discovery and validation, treatment modalities, and prevention approaches. In addition, the curriculum addresses clinical and translational aspects, including clinical trials, imaging techniques, cancer risk assessment, epidemiology, and biostatistics, ensuring a strong foundation in both laboratory and applied research contexts. Practical skills are developed through hands-on training in molecular techniques and experimental design, enabling students to plan and execute research projects effectively. The Cancer Therapeutics module focuses on the mechanisms of action of anti-cancer drugs, therapy resistance, and strategies for developing new treatments, bridging fundamental science with clinical application. By integrating these areas, students gain the ability to critically analyse research data, evaluate scientific literature, and communicate complex concepts clearly.
