COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Bioinformatics and Cancer Molecular Biology combines computational and experimental approaches to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of cancer biology and bioinformatics. The program begins with modules in gene and genome analysis, as well as proteins, structure, and bioinformatics, which equip students with the skills to analyse large biological datasets and explore the molecular mechanisms underpinning cellular function. Bioinformatics programming and advanced topics in bioinformatics provide practical experience in computational tools, Python programming, and data analysis, preparing students to tackle complex research questions. Complementing the computational focus, the course also covers experimental techniques with modules such as Introduction to Molecular Techniques and Research Methods in Cancer Biology, providing hands-on laboratory experience in molecular biology methods, experimental design, and data collection. Advanced Topics in Cancer Biology allows students to explore current research in cancer at the molecular and cellular levels, integrating knowledge from both laboratory and computational studies. Across the program, students develop the ability to critically evaluate scientific literature, communicate complex findings, and apply interdisciplinary approaches to real-world research problems. By combining bioinformatics and experimental molecular biology, this MSc equips graduates with the skills and knowledge necessary for careers in cancer research, biotechnology, and computational biology.
