COURSE CURRICULUM

The core modules of the Health Law LLM provide a comprehensive framework for understanding the legal, ethical, and social dimensions of healthcare and health policy. Health Law 1 introduces students to the foundational principles of health law, covering key legislation, case law, and regulatory frameworks that govern healthcare delivery and medical practice. Human Rights and Health Care Law examines the relationship between human rights principles and healthcare provision, exploring how legal protections shape access to care, patient rights, and professional obligations. Inequalities and Health focuses on the social, economic, and legal factors that contribute to disparities in health outcomes, equipping students with the analytical tools to understand and address inequities in healthcare systems. Health Law II builds on the initial health law module, providing advanced study of complex legal issues in medicine and healthcare, including emerging challenges in bioethics, medical technology, and policy. The Research Topic in Health Law module allows students to undertake an independent, supervised research project, applying critical thinking, legal analysis, and research skills to a topic of their choice. Together, these modules provide a rigorous and multidisciplinary approach, combining theoretical understanding with practical insight, and preparing students for careers in legal practice, healthcare policy, public administration, or further academic research in the evolving field of health law.
