COURSE CURRICULUM

The Law LLB at Leicester provides a comprehensive and structured approach to understanding the English legal system while developing practical and analytical skills. In the first year, students are introduced to the fundamentals of law, including constitutional and administrative law, contract law, tort law, and the foundations of law, learning to think critically about legal processes, solve problems, and understand the law’s role in regulating society, resolving disputes, and upholding justice. In the second year, students build on this foundation by exploring criminal law, land law, equity and trusts, and the law of EU-UK relations, gaining a deeper understanding of how legal rules regulate property, criminal behaviour, and the protection of assets, alongside the continuing influence of European law. The final year offers full flexibility, allowing students to specialise according to their interests by selecting four option modules from a broad range including bioethics, company law, criminology, family law, human rights, international law, intellectual property, employment law, and the law dissertation. Additional modules in areas such as commercial law, environmental law, legal practice, and dispute resolution further enhance practical skills. Across the program, students develop legal knowledge alongside transferable abilities in research, critical analysis, reasoning, and problem-solving, equipping them for careers as legal professionals or in other fields requiring high-level analytical and practical expertise.
