COURSE CURRICULUM

The Law with Politics LLB at Leicester integrates the study of legal principles with political theory to prepare students for careers where law and politics intersect. In the first year, students are introduced to the fundamentals of the English legal system, including constitutional and administrative law, contract law, and the law of tort, while also exploring political systems, ideologies, and comparative European politics. This foundation develops critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills, essential for both legal and political reasoning. In the second year, students deepen their legal knowledge with modules such as criminal law and EU-UK relations, while gaining flexibility to explore political interests through options such as political ideas, parties, governance in conflict, or contemporary political philosophy. The final year focuses on advanced legal topics including land law and equity and trusts, alongside a broad selection of optional modules that allow students to specialise in areas such as human rights, commercial law, jurisprudence, or law in practice. Politics modules offer further specialisation in topics like international migration, the American presidency, global justice, or political theory of disobedience. Throughout the course, students develop the skills to analyse complex legal and political issues, understand policy and governance, and prepare for careers in law, public service, government, or political consultancy.
