COURSE CURRICULUM

The Law with Criminology LLB at Leicester integrates the study of law and criminology, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of legal principles and the nature, causes, and control of criminal behaviour. In the first year, students gain foundational knowledge in the legal system and criminology, studying modules such as Constitutional and Administrative Law, Contract Law, Introduction to Criminology, and Foundations of Law, establishing the relationship between law and crime. In the second year, the focus expands to include Criminal Law, the Law of Tort, and practical aspects of punishment and rehabilitation, alongside optional criminology modules exploring topics such as sex and violence, terrorism, and criminal investigations. Students may also study European Union law, integrating legal and criminological perspectives. In the final year, students can tailor their degree according to their interests, choosing from a wide range of law and criminology options. Core modules cover Equity and Trusts and advanced Land Law, while optional modules allow specialisation in areas including human rights, international law, employment and family law, forensic science, gender and crime, and criminal justice. The program equips students with critical thinking, legal reasoning, and analytical skills, preparing them for careers in law, criminal justice, policing, policy, and research, with a strong focus on bridging legal and criminological expertise.
