COURSE CURRICULUM

The Psychology program provides a structured and comprehensive pathway from foundational knowledge to advanced specialisation. In the first year, students develop a strong grounding in core areas of psychology, including sensation, perception, cognition, brain and behaviour, social and developmental psychology, and applied psychology. They also build essential research skills through practical training, data collection, analysis and academic communication. The second year deepens understanding through core modules on psychopathology, social and developmental psychology, cognition and practical research methods, alongside a research project. Students can tailor their learning by choosing option modules in areas such as cognitive neuroscience, professional psychology, programming, health and wellbeing and clinical neuroscience. In the final year, the focus shifts to advanced study and independent research, with core modules exploring cognition, brain science and higher-level social and developmental psychology. A double-module dissertation allows students to investigate a topic of personal interest, with past projects covering forensic psychology, mental health, decision making and media influence. Final-year options offer further specialisation in fields such as judgement and decision making, forensic psychology, clinical psychology, coaching psychology, occupational psychology, neuropsychology, sport psychology and educational psychology, ensuring graduates leave with both depth and breadth of expertise.
