COURSE CURRICULUM

The Psychology with Cognitive Neuroscience BSc provides a structured progression from foundational learning to advanced neuroscientific study. In the first year, students build a solid grounding in core areas of psychology, including cognition, social and developmental psychology, brain and behaviour, and essential research skills. They also learn how to think, communicate and analyse like psychologists through integrated academic and practical activities. In the second year, learning becomes more specialised with core modules in psychopathology, cognitive neuroscience, social and developmental psychology, information processing and practical research skills. Students also undertake a dedicated cognitive neuroscience research project and choose from optional modules such as clinical neuroscience, health and wellbeing, programming for psychology and further developmental topics. In the final year, students deepen their expertise through advanced modules in social and developmental psychology, cognitive neuroscience and brain–cognition relationships. They complete a substantial dissertation exploring topics such as hormones and memory, visual processing in dyslexia or virtual reality perception. A variety of optional modules allows students to tailor their studies in areas such as decision making, forensic or clinical psychology, data science, neuropsychology, wellbeing, sport psychology or educational psychology, ensuring a well-rounded and intellectually challenging final-year experience.
