COURSE CURRICULUM

The Physiotherapy BSc is structured to develop students into competent, autonomous practitioners through a combination of university-based learning and clinical practice. In the first year, students focus on building foundational knowledge of normal and altered body systems, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology, alongside professional development and evidence-based practice. The year concludes with observational clinical experience, allowing students to contextualize theoretical knowledge and gain initial exposure to real-world patient care in inter-professional environments. In the second year, learning expands to the scientific and therapeutic foundations of physiotherapy, integrating 20 weeks of university study with 12 weeks of clinical placements. Students develop practical skills in musculoskeletal, cardio-respiratory, and neurological practice, learning to assess patients, justify interventions, and monitor outcomes while consolidating their professional and evidence-based knowledge. The final year focuses on advanced clinical skills, leadership, and autonomy, combining 16 weeks of university study with 17 weeks of clinical practice. Students refine their ability to manage complex cases, lead multidisciplinary teams, and identify improvements in service delivery to enhance patient outcomes. Throughout the course, inter-professional collaboration, reflective practice, and evidence-based decision-making are central, preparing graduates to deliver safe, effective, and holistic physiotherapy care across a range of clinical settings.
