COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mathematics BSc at the University of Leicester provides a comprehensive and structured approach to developing both theoretical and applied mathematical skills. In the first year, students build a solid foundation through core modules in calculus, linear algebra, probability, and statistics, alongside essential university-level mathematical methods. They also have the opportunity to explore options such as number theory, programming, discrete mathematics, and economics, allowing for early engagement with applied and computational perspectives. The final year emphasizes specialization, with students selecting modules across a range of pure and applied areas. These include scientific computing, operational research, financial engineering, mathematical modelling, differential geometry, topology, and equations of mathematical physics, as well as options in mathematical biology, data mining, functional data analysis, and advanced number theory. The program balances rigorous theoretical study with practical application, equipping graduates with strong analytical, computational, and problem-solving abilities.
