COURSE CURRICULUM

The Economics and Data Analytics BSc combines a solid grounding in economic theory with practical skills in data analysis, enabling students to understand and interpret complex economic, financial, and business phenomena. In the first year, students gain foundational knowledge in microeconomics, macroeconomics, statistics, and mathematics, alongside an introduction to economic data analysis and contemporary issues in economics, finance, and business. This shared first-year curriculum allows flexibility to switch to related economics degrees at the end of the year. In the second year, students build on this foundation with intermediate microeconomics and macroeconomics, econometrics, and methods for data analytics, while choosing optional modules such as principles of finance, firms and markets, money and central banking, labour economics, or environmental and resource economics. The final year focuses on applying analytical and economic skills through core modules in data analytics in practice, economic forecasting, and a reflective project. Students also select advanced option modules, including financial derivatives or mathematical finance, advanced microeconomics and macroeconomics, industrial and managerial economics, and modules in health, education, international finance, public economics, behavioural economics, or corporate finance. By integrating economic theory with quantitative analysis and practical application, graduates are equipped to pursue careers in economic research, financial services, statistical forecasting, or industry, and are well-prepared for postgraduate study.
