COURSE CURRICULUM

The Economics and Accounting BSc provides a structured program that combines the study of economics with practical accounting skills, preparing students for careers in finance, business, and accountancy. In the first year, all students take core modules covering microeconomics, macroeconomics, statistics, mathematics for economics, economic data analysis, and contemporary issues in economics, finance, and business. This shared foundation allows flexibility to switch between related economics degrees at the end of the year. In the second year, students deepen their knowledge through core modules such as introductorily econometrics, intermediate microeconomics and macroeconomics, and principles of accounting, while selecting optional modules in areas like finance, taxation, economic history, money and central banking, environmental and resource economics, data science, and firms, markets, and welfare. The final year builds advanced competencies in both disciplines, with core modules in communicating economics, management accounting, financial reporting, and audit and assurance. Students also choose optional modules in areas such as industrial economics, management science, international trade, investment management, business law, corporate finance, international finance, public economics, business taxation, and behavioural economics. The program combines theoretical economic analysis with practical accounting expertise, equipping graduates with the skills and knowledge to excel in professional accounting roles, financial services, and other business sectors, while also providing preparation for further postgraduate study.
