COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc in Business Economics provides a comprehensive education in economics and business, equipping students with the analytical, quantitative, and decision-making skills needed for careers in finance, management, and consultancy. In the first year, students study foundational modules in microeconomics, macroeconomics, statistics, mathematics for economics, economic data analysis, and contemporary issues in economics, finance, and business. The shared first-year curriculum allows flexibility to transfer between related economics degrees. In the second year, students build on this foundation with core modules in intermediate microeconomics and macroeconomics, introductory and applied econometrics, principles of finance, and firms, markets, and welfare, alongside optional modules such as strategic management, data science, operations and project management, and environment, society, and governance. This combination strengthens students’ understanding of economic theory and its practical application in business contexts. In the final year, students focus on advanced topics through core modules in business economics, international business, and communicating economics, while selecting from optional modules including industrial economics, managerial economics, business law, business ethics, business in the digital economy, corporate finance, accounting, business taxation, and behavioural economics. Overall, the program develops strong analytical, quantitative, and research skills, alongside a broad understanding of business and economic environments, preparing graduates for successful careers in finance, management, policy, or further postgraduate study.
