COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biological Sciences (Physiology with Pharmacology) BSc is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of biological systems from the molecular and cellular level to whole-body integration. In the first year, students study core modules across biochemistry, genetics, microbiology, neuroscience, physiology, and zoology, providing a broad foundation in biology and helping identify areas of interest for further specialization. Year two deepens knowledge in physiology and pharmacology, exercise physiology, and the physiology of excitable cells, while also developing research skills. Students can choose optional modules in areas such as genomics, molecular cell biology, neurobiology, immunology, bioinformatics, and evolutionary biology, allowing them to tailor their learning to their interests and career goals. The final year emphasizes advanced study in molecular and cellular pharmacology, cardiovascular physiology, and other specialized topics, with opportunities for independent research projects that develop practical, analytical, and experimental skills. Additional optional modules cover subjects including neurobiology, molecular immunology, genetics, cancer biology, therapeutics, conservation, and astrobiology, ensuring students gain both depth and breadth of expertise. Overall, the program equips graduates with a solid understanding of physiological mechanisms, pharmacological principles, and research competence, preparing them for careers in biomedical research, healthcare, pharmaceutical development, or further postgraduate study.
