COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc in Accounting and Finance provides a structured pathway for students to develop both foundational and advanced knowledge in accounting, finance, and related business disciplines. In the first year, students build a solid base through modules in financial accounting, management, economics, law and ethics, business analytics, introduction to finance, and management accounting, alongside quantitative and study skills that prepare them for future research and practical applications. The second year allows students to specialise in core areas of accounting such as financial reporting, personal taxation, audit and assurance, and intermediate management accounting, while also completing modules in professional skills development and research methods. Students can further tailor their studies by choosing an optional module in areas such as business taxation or corporate governance. The final year focuses on advanced topics, including contemporary issues in accounting and finance, advanced audit, assurance and ethics, advanced financial reporting, and emerging areas like FinTech, AI, and blockchain. Students complete a dissertation under one-to-one supervision, developing independent research skills and critical thinking. Additionally, they choose from a range of optional modules, such as global public sector accounting, advanced management accounting, forensic accounting, social and environmental accounting, advanced taxation, entrepreneurship, or the business of the space economy, enabling them to align their studies with career aspirations and personal interests.
