COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc in Accounting and Finance provides students with a comprehensive understanding of accounting and finance while developing practical skills essential for professional success. In the first year, students gain a solid foundation in finance, accounting, management, economics, and law, alongside essential quantitative and analytical skills that prepare them for more advanced study and their final year dissertation. Core modules in financial accounting, management accounting, business analytics, and study skills build the base for future specialization. In the second year, students begin to focus on specific areas, including corporate finance, investment management, financial reporting, audit and assurance, and intermediate management accounting. The Research Methods module equips students with the tools to conduct independent research, while optional modules allow learners to tailor their studies to areas of personal interest, such as derivatives, personal taxation, corporate governance, or finance for SMEs. In the final year, students engage with advanced topics including contemporary issues in accounting and finance, financial statement analysis, advanced financial reporting, and emerging technologies such as FinTech, AI, and blockchain. The program culminates in a research project or dissertation supported by academic supervision. Additional optional modules, including quantitative finance, forensic accounting, and advanced corporate finance, enable students to develop specialist knowledge, preparing them for careers in accounting, finance, and related sectors, or further postgraduate study.
