The Human Resource Management BA at Leicester develops students’ understanding of the principles and practices of managing people within organisations, providing a balance of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. In the first year, students gain a solid foundation in core business and management concepts, including principles of human resource management and marketing, introduction to management, business finance, legal and economic contexts, data insights for business decisions, personal and professional development, and contemporary issues in the future of work. In the second year, students advance their learning through modules focused on organisational behaviour and design, human resource management, workplace learning and development, equity, diversity and inclusion, globalisation and skills, labour market trends, and a live consultancy challenge. These experiences allow students to apply knowledge to practical workplace problems and develop professional HR skills. In the final year, the program emphasises strategic, analytical, and research capabilities through core modules such as research methods, employment relations in the global economy, strategic human resource management, big data and people analytics, employment law for HR practitioners, and power at work. The degree equips graduates with critical thinking, analytical, communication, and leadership skills, preparing them for successful careers in human resource management, organisational development, and related professional fields.
