COURSE CURRICULUM

The Writing for Performance and Digital Media MA includes a combination of compulsory and optional modules designed to develop both practical skills and critical understanding in creative writing and performance. Core modules such as the Independent Research Project provide students with the opportunity to undertake a substantial piece of original research or creative work, allowing them to explore a topic of personal interest in depth while developing advanced project management and analytical skills. Narrative Perspectives in Practice focuses on understanding and applying different approaches to storytelling, helping students refine their narrative techniques and experiment with form and structure in creative work. Writing for Contemporary Theatre and Performance equips students with the skills to produce original scripts and texts suitable for live performance contexts, emphasizing the interplay between writing, performance, and audience engagement. Optional modules offer opportunities for further specialization, including Sustainable Development in Arts and Culture, which examines the cultural and societal impact of creative practices, Digital and Intermedial Storytelling, which explores contemporary digital media and interactive narratives, and Script Development for Film and Television, which focuses on writing for screen media. Together, these modules provide a comprehensive foundation in both the theory and practice of writing for performance and digital media, preparing graduates for careers in theatre, film, television, digital media, and related creative industries, as well as for further research and professional development.
