COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sustainable Agriculture and Food Production MSc Year 1 program provides students with a comprehensive foundation in sustainable food systems, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills. Core modules cover essential aspects of agriculture and food production, including crop production in a changing environment, sustainable diets and protein production, and crop science and plant biotechnology, offering insights into both traditional and innovative approaches to agriculture. Students develop research skills and data analysis capabilities, enabling them to critically assess challenges in food security, environmental sustainability, and the global food system. Circular approaches to sustainable agri-food systems and sustainable futures in agriculture emphasize environmentally responsible practices and practical applications, preparing students to implement solutions that minimise negative impacts while enhancing productivity and efficiency. A major focus of the program is the Masters Research Project, which allows students to undertake an in-depth, independent research investigation under expert supervision, integrating their learning across modules and applying it to real-world problems. This combination of interdisciplinary teaching, applied practice, and research-led learning equips graduates with the knowledge, technical skills, and critical thinking required for careers in sustainable agriculture, food production, policy, consultancy, or further academic study, including PhD research, in global food and environmental systems.
