COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sustainability and Business MSc combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills to prepare students for careers in sustainable enterprise, entrepreneurship, and responsible business. Compulsory modules provide a strong foundation, beginning with Business, Environment and Sustainability, which examines the role of business in addressing sustainability challenges through case studies and critical analysis. Sustainable Business in Practice: Implementation and Communication links theory to real-world approaches in corporate social responsibility and management practices, while Research Skills develops understanding of social science research paradigms, data analysis methods, and essential skills for designing and conducting research. Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Creation focuses on developing and designing new ventures, integrating theory with practical business planning. The Sustainability and Business Research Project allows students to apply their learning to a substantial research project, honing skills in data collection, analysis, independent working, and time management. Optional modules provide opportunities to tailor the degree to individual interests, including New Venture Creation, Enterprise and Society, Critical Entrepreneurship Studies, Managing and Delivering Sustainability Through Projects and Organisations, Environmental Politics, Policy and Governance, and Finance for Sustainable Development. These modules explore practical applications, policy frameworks, financial systems, and critical debates in sustainability, equipping graduates with the knowledge, analytical capability, and professional skills to lead change in organisations, develop sustainable ventures, and address global social and environmental challenges.
