COURSE CURRICULUM

The Quantum Technologies MSc offers a comprehensive suite of compulsory modules designed to provide both theoretical foundations and practical skills in quantum science and technology. The MSc Project, a 60-credit module, allows students to conduct independent research under academic supervision, encompassing literature review, research planning, execution, and presentation, and may involve theoretical work, simulations, or hands-on experimentation using quantum platforms. Current Research Topics introduces students to recent breakthroughs across quantum technologies, developing critical skills in analysing and discussing contemporary research. Quantum Information Science and Technology explores fundamental principles of quantum information, including entanglement, quantum communication, and quantum key distribution, with applications in secure communications and computing. Quantum Simulations: Theory and Techniques teaches students to build quantum circuits, simulate quantum systems, and estimate properties, providing practical exposure to emerging quantum hardware. The Quantum Lab Workshop offers hands-on experience with quantum protocols such as teleportation and super-dense coding. Advanced Quantum Information Theory deepens understanding of mixed states, quantum channels, and metrology, while Quantum Photonics examines light–matter interactions in open quantum systems. Quantum Matter explores condensed matter phenomena, including electronic band structures, superconductivity, and nanoscale devices. Advanced Quantum Physics provides rigorous training in quantum mechanics, including Schrödinger equation solutions, perturbation theory, and spin systems, equipping students with the expertise necessary to engage with cutting-edge research and applications in quantum technologies.
