COURSE CURRICULUM

The first year of the Precision Medicine: Genomic Data Science MSc offers a combination of core modules designed to develop expertise in genomics, data analysis, and precision healthcare. Compulsory modules cover both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, beginning with High-Throughput Technologies, which introduces students to modern experimental approaches for generating large-scale biological data. Biopharmaceutical Development: Clinical and Cancer Drug Development provide insight into the processes of translating scientific discoveries into therapeutics, highlighting clinical applications and drug development pathways. Analytical Skills in Precision Medicine, Statistical Theory and Methods, and Statistical Learning equip students with essential computational and quantitative techniques for analyzing complex genomic and phenotypic datasets. Big Data and Rare and Common Disorders focuses on applying statistical and bioinformatic methods to understand disease mechanisms and identify biomarkers. Introduction to Genetic Epidemiology provides a foundation in the study of genetic contributions to disease within populations. Central to the program is the Research Project: Genomics and Analytics, a 60-credit module allowing students to undertake an independent research project that integrates their practical, analytical, and theoretical knowledge, developing skills in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific communication. Together, these modules prepare students for careers in analytical genomics, clinical research, healthcare analytics, and related fields by combining interdisciplinary knowledge, practical experience, and advanced data science skills in precision medicine.
