COURSE CURRICULUM

The Medical Engineering MSc provides a strong technical and practical foundation through its core modules, beginning with Experimental Methods and Analysis, where you learn to design experiments and analyse data to solve engineering problems. A major component of the program is the 60-credit professional project, allowing you to apply your learning to an in-depth investigation of a real-world medical engineering challenge, often in collaboration with industry. Alongside this, the Team Design Project develops your ability to work in multidisciplinary groups to solve industry-relevant design problems. A wide selection of optional modules allows you to tailor the course to your interests, covering areas such as medical electronics, innovation management, computational methods, computational fluid dynamics, tribology, biomaterials, joint replacement technology, biomechatronics and robotics, surface engineering, advanced manufacturing and finite element analysis. These modules deepen your understanding of how engineering principles are applied in medical contexts, from analysing material wear and designing implants to exploring robotic systems, advanced coatings and biological interactions. Through this combination of analytical training, hands-on project work and specialist optional modules, the course equips you with the skills required to innovate in the medical engineering sector and contribute to the development of advanced medical technologies.
