COURSE CURRICULUM

The first year of the International Health MSc provides a comprehensive foundation in global health, combining theoretical knowledge with practical research skills. Core modules cover a wide range of topics essential for understanding international health systems, policy, and development, including applied qualitative health research, statistics for health sciences, and key issues in international health. Students gain insight into how health systems operate across different countries, the challenges faced by vulnerable populations, and the strategies used to address health inequalities. Modules on policy for health and development and programmatic responses to key issues equip students with the ability to critically assess health programs and interventions and understand their design, implementation, and evaluation. The Research Project in International Health allows students to undertake an independent investigation, applying the skills and knowledge acquired throughout the course while exploring real-world health issues. Through the introduction to health systems module, students examine the structure, governance, and functionality of health services globally, gaining a nuanced understanding of the factors influencing health outcomes. By the end of the year, students will have developed the research, analytical, and practical competencies needed to contribute effectively to international health initiatives, policy development, and evidence-based practice in global health contexts.
