COURSE CURRICULUM

The Global Conservation Science MSc equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to address complex conservation challenges from a global perspective. The program combines ecological theory, decision science, and practical conservation techniques to prepare graduates for evidence-based biodiversity management. Core modules provide training in geographic information systems, enabling students to analyse spatial data relevant to conservation planning and monitoring. Conservation project management and decision science modules develop the skills required to design, implement, and evaluate projects while incorporating quantitative and qualitative approaches to inform effective strategies. Students also explore research skills and data analysis, learning to interpret complex ecological and social datasets and apply these insights to real-world conservation problems. The equitable sustainability module highlights the ethical, social, and policy dimensions of conservation, ensuring graduates understand the broader implications of conservation actions and the need for inclusive, socially responsible approaches. Global change ecology introduces students to the impacts of climate change, habitat loss, and other anthropogenic pressures on biodiversity, reinforcing the importance of adaptive management. The program culminates in a substantial masters research project, allowing students to integrate theoretical knowledge and practical skills to investigate a conservation challenge in depth. Graduates emerge with the expertise to contribute to conservation practice, research, policy, and sustainable management of natural resources worldwide.
