COURSE CURRICULUM

The Dental Public Health MSc is structured around a set of compulsory modules that equip you with the scientific, analytical and practical skills needed to understand and improve oral health at a population level. Research Methods, Ethics and Statistics provides essential training in project management, evidence review, academic writing, ethics and data analysis. The Individual Project allows you to conduct independent research, deepening your understanding of research philosophy while building skills in literature searching, data management and critical appraisal. Dental Public Health and the Science of Behaviours offers multidisciplinary insight into the scientific foundations of dental public health, exploring how psychology, sociology and wider determinants of health shape effective population-level interventions. Evidence Synthesis and Review Methodologies trains you in systematic, narrative and scoping review techniques, helping you evaluate and integrate findings from multiple studies. Principles of Public Health (International), delivered by the Nuffield Centre, broadens your perspective through the study of epidemiology, health systems, public health interventions and the importance of equity, governance and human rights. The Health Promotion module further develops your understanding of behaviour change, empowerment, social determinants of health and the planning and evaluation of health promotion programs. Together, these modules provide comprehensive preparation for roles in public health, research and health improvement.
