COURSE CURRICULUM

The Architecture Design MSc program provides a comprehensive exploration of contemporary architectural and urban design, with a strong focus on sustainability and global perspectives. Students develop practical skills through two design studios, where they engage in real-world projects to explore urban design strategies and sustainable architectural approaches, integrating considerations such as building performance, occupant comfort, and resilience in the context of climate change and global challenges. Modules on sustainable environment design and architecture and sustainable developments enhance understanding of economic, social, and environmental sustainability, while promoting critical evaluation of past and current practices to prepare for future challenges. Theories of architecture and urban design broaden students’ understanding of global urban contexts, emphasizing cultural, social, and environmental factors and integrating local identity with international best practices. Research methods and skills training equips students with the necessary tools to design, implement, and communicate research effectively, supporting informed architectural decision-making. The research thesis enables in-depth investigation of a chosen topic, fostering independent research and analytical skills through a substantial 20,000-word project. Optional modules, such as professional and academic communication, further support academic literacy and effective communication. Together, the program develops students’ expertise in design, sustainability, and research, preparing them for professional practice or further academic study in architecture and urban design.
