COURSE CURRICULUM

The Advanced Computer Science (Data Analytics) MSc equips students with advanced knowledge and practical skills in data science, machine learning, and cloud computing, preparing them for careers in industries increasingly driven by big data. The program includes core modules such as Data Science, which develops analytical methods to extract insights from complex datasets, Cloud Computing Systems, which provides expertise in building and managing large-scale distributed systems, and Machine Learning, covering algorithms such as decision trees, Bayesian networks, neural networks, clustering, and deep learning. Students also complete a substantial MSc Project, applying their learning to real-world problems with potential industry collaboration, exploring areas such as text mining, data visualisation, or sports analytics. Optional modules allow students to specialise further, including Blockchain Technologies, Knowledge Representation and Reasoning, Deep Learning, Algorithms, Programming for Data Science, Data Mining and Text Analytics, Advanced Software Engineering, Scientific Computation, and Graph Theory: Structure and Algorithms. These modules provide hands-on experience in implementing solutions, designing efficient algorithms, developing AI systems, and understanding the mathematical and computational principles underpinning real-world applications. Through a combination of research-led teaching, practical exercises, and industry-aligned projects, students graduate with the technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills required to excel in data analytics, artificial intelligence, and computational research careers.
