COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation MRes is structured to provide students with a comprehensive research-led education in advanced sport, exercise, and rehabilitation science. The program is designed to develop expertise in both practical and theoretical aspects of the field, with a strong emphasis on independent research and the application of evidence-based methods. In the first semester, students study Advanced Data Analysis Techniques, which equips them with the quantitative and qualitative analytical skills necessary to handle complex datasets and evaluate outcomes in rehabilitation and exercise science. The Advanced Research Topics module builds critical understanding of current issues, methodologies, and innovations in the discipline, fostering the ability to engage with and critically assess cutting-edge research. The cornerstone of the program is the MRes Research Project, a substantial 120-credit independent study that allows students to design, conduct, and report on original research under expert supervision. This project integrates the skills and knowledge gained across the course, providing hands-on experience in experimental design, data collection, statistical analysis, and interpretation. Through this combination of modules, graduates develop a high level of competence in research and practical application, preparing them for careers in clinical, performance, or rehabilitation settings, as well as providing a strong foundation for doctoral study or other advanced research opportunities.
