COURSE CURRICULUM

The Public Health (International) MPH offers two distinct streams to suit different professional goals: Stream A focuses on public health interventions and services, while Stream B emphasizes health policy and health systems. The program combines core taught modules with a wide range of optional modules, allowing students to tailor their learning to align with their interests and career aspirations. Core modules include Introduction to Global and Public Health, which provides an overview of global health challenges, public health strategies, and health systems for achieving Universal Health Coverage, and Health Systems Research Methods, which equips students with the skills to plan research, select methods, evaluate findings, and present results. Stream-specific modules include Principles of Public Health for Stream A, which examines multidisciplinary approaches to improving health services and programs, and Principles of Health Management for Stream B, which focuses on policy, management systems, and the evolving role of government in healthcare. The dissertation, completed in the final semester, enables students to apply public health knowledge and research skills to a topical issue of international or national relevance, providing an opportunity for in-depth investigation. Students also benefit from practical learning experiences, including a study visit to Geneva with workshops and meetings at organisations such as the World Health Organization, UNAIDS, UNHCR, the International Labour Organization, and Médecins Sans Frontières, enhancing understanding of global public health practice and governance.
