COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA TESOL program offers a combination of core and optional modules designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in the theory and practice of teaching English to speakers of other languages. Core modules include Learning and Teaching in TESOL, which develops an understanding of effective pedagogical approaches and classroom practices, Analysing Language, which focuses on the structure and function of English, and Language Development for TESOL, which examines how learners acquire language and progress in proficiency. Research Methods and Dissertation equips students with the skills to conduct independent, rigorous research, culminating in a dissertation that allows in-depth exploration of a topic of interest. Alongside these compulsory modules, students can choose from a range of optional modules tailored to their specific interests and career goals. Options include Current Issues in Second Language Teacher Education, Creativity and Play for Learning, Technology Enhanced Language Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Education, Grammar Learning and Teaching, Corpus Linguistics in the Classroom, Tasks and Materials for TESOL, Assessing Language Learning, Teaching Languages to Young Learners, and Teaching English for Academic Purposes.
