The Media Industries MA provides a structured exploration of how media are produced, analysed and understood within global cultural and economic contexts. Compulsory modules equip you with core theoretical and practical foundations. The Dissertation and Research Methods module enables you to conduct original research, developing essential skills in inquiry and academic analysis. Media Industries introduces you to the organisational structures, economic forces and cultural practices shaping today’s media landscape, while Media Production Analysis helps you critically evaluate how media content is created, framed and distributed across different platforms. Optional modules allow you to tailor your studies to specific interests, covering areas such as contemporary debates in media communication, visual communication, television narrative, feminism and identity, audience behaviour, and political reporting. You may also explore international film industries, public opinion, digital platforms, climate communication and issues surrounding global migration and race in the media.
