COURSE CURRICULUM

The International Journalism MA is designed to provide students with a thorough understanding of journalism in a global context, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills. Core modules include Dissertation and Research Methods, Journalism Theory and Research, and Journalism Practice and Policy, equipping students with the tools to critically analyse media, develop research projects, and engage with professional journalism practice. The course explores the evolving role of journalism in society, examining its relationship with politics, ethics, public opinion, and digital media transformations. Students learn to apply journalistic principles to a variety of contexts while considering the social, cultural, and political implications of news production and dissemination. Optional modules allow students to tailor their studies to specific interests, such as contemporary debates in media and communication, gender and media histories, visual communication, climate communication, and global migration and media.
