COURSE CURRICULUM

The Global Governance and Diplomacy MA provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the structures, processes, and challenges of international governance and diplomatic practice. Core modules such as Diplomatic Practice and Global Governance develop students’ knowledge of the practical and theoretical aspects of diplomacy, including how global institutions and regimes operate, the political dynamics that shape their effectiveness, and the strategies used to address complex international challenges. Through these modules, students gain insight into the principles and practices that underpin international negotiations, policy-making, and transnational governance, while exploring case studies that highlight both successful and unsuccessful approaches. The program places a strong emphasis on developing professional skills alongside academic knowledge, preparing students for careers in international organisations, governmental institutions, or non-governmental organisations operating within global politics. Students refine competencies in lobbying, negotiation, campaigning, and professional report writing, enabling them to communicate effectively and influence decision-making in diverse global contexts. The dissertation provides an opportunity for independent, in-depth research on a topic of personal or professional interest, allowing students to apply analytical frameworks, conduct rigorous research, and develop critical thinking skills. Overall, graduates emerge equipped to navigate complex international environments and contribute meaningfully to global governance and diplomacy.
