COURSE CURRICULUM

The Conference Interpreting and Translation Studies MA at Leeds combines core training in interpreting with a broad foundation in translation studies, equipping students with the practical and theoretical skills required for professional language services. Core modules focus on methods and approaches in translation studies alongside the development of interpreting skills, including consecutive and simultaneous interpreting. Students gain a strong grounding in essential techniques such as active listening, note-taking, and analysis, which are applied in both classroom and simulated professional settings. Options cover areas such as screen translation, corpus linguistics, English for translators, rhetoric and public speaking, legal translation, literary translation, and specialised translation in a second language. Practical components such as interpreting projects, extended translations, and advanced consecutive interpreting (for ACC pathway students) further enhance hands-on experience.
