COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Advertising and Design course is structured to provide a comprehensive foundation in both the creative and strategic aspects of advertising. In the first year, students complete a series of compulsory modules that equip them with essential knowledge and practical skills. The Research in Design and Enterprise module, worth 30 credits, focuses on developing the ability to conduct both primary and secondary research, enabling students to inform and evaluate their design work using robust methodologies. The Design Process and Principles in Advertising module, carrying 60 credits, provides an in-depth understanding of communication campaign development, integrating graphic, typographic, and digital design principles. The Advertising and Design Final Project, also 60 credits, allows students to apply their learning to a substantial project, synthesising research, creative thinking, and practical design skills in a real-world context. To complement these, the Consumer Behaviour module, worth 15 credits, introduces students to essential concepts in understanding audience motivations, preferences, and decision-making processes, while the Advertising and Media Planning module, also 15 credits, teaches the development of effective strategies for media placement and brand communication. Together, these modules combine research, design, and business principles to prepare students for professional practice in advertising and communication design, fostering creativity, analytical thinking, and practical industry skills.
