COURSE CURRICULUM

The Law with German Law LLB program combines the study of English law with German legal systems while developing advanced German language skills. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through modules such as Contract Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law, Foundations of Law, Legal Skills, and PRIME, which focus on professional, ethical, and personal development. The German Language Awareness and Skills module further develops communication skills and cultural understanding. In the second year, core modules in Torts, Law and Society, Criminal Law, and European Legal Systems expand legal knowledge while German Language Skills in Context prepares students for practical communication in German-speaking environments. Students can also choose optional modules covering specialist areas such as Company Law, Youth Crime and Justice, Competition Law, International Human Rights Law, Family Law, and Employment Law, allowing for focused study in areas of interest. The third year is spent studying law at a partner institution in Germany, providing first-hand experience of a civil law system. In the final year, students complete compulsory modules including Law of Trusts, EU Law, Land Law, and a Final Year Project, integrating knowledge, research, and practical skills. Optional modules such as Privacy and Media Law, Gender and the Law, Cyberlaw, Disability Law, and Evidence enable further specialization and engagement with contemporary legal issues, ensuring graduates leave with a comprehensive, interdisciplinary, and practical understanding of law in national and international contexts.
