COURSE CURRICULUM

The Law LLB at Leeds provides a comprehensive and structured approach to understanding law and its role in society. In the first year, students gain foundational knowledge through compulsory modules in contract law, constitutional and administrative law, criminal law, legal skills, and the PRIME module, which focuses on ethics, self-reflection, and professional development. These modules introduce core legal principles while encouraging critical thinking, problem-solving, and engagement with the broader social, political, and economic context of the law. In the second year, students expand their knowledge with modules such as torts, land law, EU law, and law and society, while also selecting optional modules in areas including company law, youth crime, competition law, human rights, family law, international law, policing, employment law, and social sciences and emergencies, allowing for exploration of specialist interests. In the third year, students study the law of trusts and undertake a final year project, enabling them to apply accumulated knowledge to independent research and real-world legal problems. Additional optional modules cover topics such as health care law, environmental law, penology, transnational criminology, commercial law, media law, gender and law, cyberlaw, disability law, and historical perspectives on crime and justice. The program combines academic rigor with practical and socio-legal perspectives, equipping students with analytical, research, and problem-solving skills applicable in both legal and wider professional contexts.
