COURSE CURRICULUM

The Advanced Psychology BSc offers a comprehensive and progressive study of psychology, covering core areas such as developmental, cognitive, biological, social and health psychology. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge through modules exploring human development, cognition, brain function, social behaviour and research skills, while gaining practical experience in applied research. The second year deepens understanding with advanced modules on neuropsychology, social behaviour in context, developmental processes across the lifespan, perception, cognition and both quantitative and qualitative research methods. By the final years, students specialise across three key areas—Biological, Cognitive, and Health and Social Psychology—while completing a major research project that develops independence, critical thinking and analytical skills. A wide range of optional modules allows students to tailor their studies to topics such as clinical psychology, ageing, neuropsychology, criminological psychology, occupational health, decision-making, language development and face perception. In the fourth year, students follow specialised pathways in cognitive development and disorders or psychological approaches to health, undertaking advanced research training and studying contemporary themes including dementia, neurodevelopment, ageing, health behaviour change and patient safety. The program integrates theory, research and real-world applications throughout, preparing graduates for postgraduate study or careers in psychology and related fields.
