COURSE CURRICULUM

The Textile Innovation and Sustainability BSc provides students with the knowledge and skills to develop sustainable and innovative textile solutions for global environmental and societal challenges. In the first year, students gain foundational knowledge through modules covering sustainable textile manufacturing, fibres, yarn and fabric production, fashion sustainability, and the fashion industry. These modules explore the environmental, social, and economic impacts of textile production while introducing emerging technologies and innovations that support circularity. Optional modules allow students to broaden their understanding through design, colour, photography, and creative thinking. In the second year, the focus shifts to advanced techniques and processes, including complex fabric manufacturing, textile coloration and finishing, performance evaluation, quality control, and garment manufacturing. Students also explore sustainable product development, fashion management, and strategic marketing while developing independent research skills in preparation for their final-year projects. The third year emphasizes specialization and applied learning through modules in nonwoven and technical textiles, as well as a major research project. Students can select modules aligned to specific interests, including sustainable product development, digital design, innovation, healthcare textiles, and sustainable business. Optional modules in fashion, design, and marketing allow further customization. The program equips graduates with expertise in sustainable textile innovation, technical knowledge, and research skills, preparing them for careers across fashion, industrial, and technical textile sectors while driving environmental and social sustainability.
