COURSE CURRICULUM

The Physics with Artificial Intelligence BSc at Leeds integrates core physics with artificial intelligence, preparing students for careers at the intersection of science and technology. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in mechanics, relativity, thermodynamics, waves, optics, quantum physics, electronics, and computational methods, alongside introductory modules in artificial intelligence and Python programming for machine learning. Optional modules allow exploration of areas such as nanotechnology, planetary science, and Python applications. In the second year, the focus expands to quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics, condensed matter physics, electromagnetism, machine learning fundamentals, and experimental skills, combining theoretical knowledge with practical and computational expertise. Throughout the course, students develop programming, data analysis, experimental, and research skills, enabling them to apply AI techniques to complex physical systems. In the final year, students undertake an independent research project incorporating AI, allowing them to engage with cutting-edge topics in physics and computational methods. Additional modules in advanced physics and deep learning provide further expertise in areas such as quantum mechanics, condensed matter, bionanophysics, optics, astrophysics, and neural networks. The program emphasizes the practical application of AI to scientific problems, preparing graduates with the knowledge, skills, and experience to pursue careers in physics, AI, data science, and related interdisciplinary fields.
