COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Music, Multimedia and Electronics at Leeds is an interdisciplinary program combining music, multimedia, and electrical engineering, designed to provide students with practical and theoretical expertise across both creative and technical domains. In the first year, students study core modules including studio recording, electronic music, music and society, circuit analysis, digital electronics and microcontrollers, engineering mathematics, and an electronic design project, establishing foundational skills in music practice, technology, and engineering principles. In the second year, the curriculum builds on these foundations with computer music, applied music technology, researching music, electronic circuits and systems design, embedded systems project, and microprocessors and programmable logic, allowing students to develop advanced technical competencies and creative approaches to music technology. In the final year, students complete the Music, Multimedia and Electronics Project, applying research methods to a self-directed portfolio of practice with guidance from academic supervisors. Additional modules include music beyond graduation, audio signal processing, professional studies, and digital media engineering, which prepare students for careers across music, multimedia, and engineering industries. The course emphasizes independent and collaborative work, critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and professional development. Students may choose one optional music module in their final year, while all other modules in the first two years are compulsory due to accreditation requirements, ensuring a comprehensive and integrated learning experience.
