COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng in Electronics and Computer Engineering provides a comprehensive education combining electronics, computing, and emerging technologies. In the first two years, students build a strong foundation in electronic components, electrical systems, circuit theory, digital electronics, embedded systems, programming, algorithm design, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. Year 1 modules include circuit analysis and design, computational foundations of AI, digital electronics and microcontrollers, communication systems, engineering mathematics, algorithms and numerical mathematics, and an electronic design project that develops practical skills through laboratory work and team projects. Year 2 focuses on advanced topics such as electronic circuit and systems design, machine learning, communications theory, embedded systems, microprocessors and programmable logic, and Internet-of-Things technologies, providing hands-on experience in both hardware and software design. In the final year, students specialise further through modules in control systems, artificial intelligence, audio signal processing, and digital media engineering, while undertaking an individual engineering project that applies theoretical knowledge to a real-world problem. Professional studies modules develop transferable skills such as project management, ethics, quality control, and innovation. The program equips students with analytical, problem-solving, and technical expertise, preparing them for careers in high-tech industries including computing, electronics, IoT, cybersecurity, and communications, while fostering independent thinking and practical engineering competence.
