COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sustainable Fashion BA at Leeds prepares students to critically engage with the fashion industry and develop strategies for ethical and environmentally responsible practice. In the first year, students study core modules that introduce sustainable fashion, the full lifecycle of fashion products from materials to end of life, the structure and operations of the fashion industry, and foundational design studies. Optional modules allow students to explore areas such as photography, colour design, or creative thinking, providing flexibility to pursue individual interests. In the second year, students build on this foundation by applying sustainability principles to product development, exploring green manufacturing processes, examining management and marketing strategies, and developing research and analytical skills through design studies. Optional modules offer further specialization in areas like digital photography, illustration, and creative practices. In the third year, students focus on the evolving dynamics of the fashion industry, investigating forces such as technological innovation, consumer behaviour, and sustainability through the Fashion Revolutions module. They complete a major research project and engage in modules on sustainable fashion strategy, innovation, and product development, integrating environmental, social, and business considerations into practical solutions. Additional optional modules allow for exploration of advertising, marketing, fashion styling, and social design, enabling students to tailor their studies and prepare for careers in sustainable fashion.
